Due to China's zero-COVID policy, Shanghai citizens have been under extremely strict lockdown since March 28. More than 30 million residents have been confined in either quarantine centers or their homes for more than two months, forbidden to leave buildings and facing starvation, medicine shortage and personal freedom restriction, which includes my family. Government called life in different stages of Covid prevention policy as 防疫日常(Normal life in normalized prevention) and 隔離日常 (Normal life in forced-quarantine). It seems that as long as decorating the word “日常”(normal life) in propaganda, the government is able to glamorize everyday life that citizens try their best to achieve in the time of turmoil. Thinking back to the past months, everyday life is not ordinary at all.
